The Seed Worship Group Epistle

Ninth Month 2025

To Friends Everywhere ~

Two years ago a daily worship was formed to support the healing journey of Carl Magruder following his traumatic brain injury in August of 2023. Friends gather from seven Yearly meetings, joining friends across geography and faith traditions to meet together daily. The worship group has been stewarded by a small group of elders who meet periodically tending the worship. The group does no business and has no committees.

This worship gathers for both Carl and his partner Mica Estrada, to provide the anchor, love and support to both of them as they navigate the landscapes of healing. As Carl's healing has progressed, the worship has expanded to include and support their existing and emerging ministries.

As it has continued over the two years, this circle of worship has deepened and become a powerful daily reminder of the gift of community, love and an anchor for all of us. Carl and Mica have begun to refer to it as “The Seed” because our practice has been to drop down to the seed of love and healing that carries the connection from worship into our days and beyond the online presence. Our capacity for love has grown and even deepened through in person gatherings that have woven themselves into the online worship. As Carl says, quoting Ephesians, “This group of faithful worshippers, rooted and grounded in love, strengthened in the Spirit through faith, who know the height and depth, the length and breadth of God’s understanding and Grace, carry healing intentions, expanding its concern outward towards the possibility of a thriving world and cosmos.”

As we continue to listen to Spirit, we ask, “How do we hold the ways we are being led in community and with love in this complex world?”
